FLIR Promotion: Get a Free Tablet PC and Start Remotely Using your T440 or T620
Update! Sorry this promotion is no longer running.
With the T620 or T640 FLIR has added a METERLiNK meter of your choice – the EX845 or MO297 – to sweeten the deal!
This promotion is only available to customers in the USA
As part of the new T-Series release we’ve been covering, FLIR has an excellent promo going on right now. When buying one of the FLIR T420, T440 FLIR will include a 16gb Wi-Fi iPad. For any of these cameras bought between now and September 30th 2012, you can fill out one of FLIR’s promotion redemption forms and they’ll set you up for remote viewing.
Additionally: Anyone buying a bigger brother, the T620 and T640, will receive an iPad and their choice from two Extech Meterlink products. The EX485 will wirelessly transmit Voltage and Current readings to your FLIR camera to incorporate meter readings with thermal images, while the MO297 can do the same but with moisture and humidity data.
More than just a handy throw in, including a tablet gets you set up to run one of the most exciting new features in the T-series: remote operation.
Using the FLIR tools app, a thermographer can link his T-series camera to the tablet via blue-tooth or a wireless network. Previously this was really only used to download images and build a quick report that could be emailed from the field. Now though, all the functions of the camera can be manipulated over the remote link.
This comes into play when issues like arc flash safety are an issue allowing thermographers to work from a distance.
With the push for arc flash safety via NFPA 70E (US) and CSAZ462 (Canada), working in arc-flash rated areas is becoming more and more difficult. To get compliant, the thermographer has to either “suit up” – which too often restricts their ability to work effectively – or they have to work remotely, outside of the arc flash radius. FLIR are clever to offer remote control on these newest cameras – it’s a great compliment to FLIR’s infrared windows in helping predictive/preventative maintenance workers do their jobs in a safe way that doesn’t reduce productivity.
FLIR mobile tools is no longer a $30 app. Its free. And with a free unit thrown in right now, you can start experimenting with remote functionality right out of the box.
