CoolerMiser Product Description

Bayview’s Miser family is a line of occupancy-based energy control technologies. CoolerMiserTM (patented), a new addition to the Miser family, controls glass-front coolers that contain non-perishable goods.  Machines suitable for control by CoolerMiser typically have glass sliding doors or pull-open doors.  CoolerMiser can operate stand alone or it can be a perfect companion to the powerful VendingMiser®.

CoolerMiser utilizes a Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensor to determine occupancy in the area around the cooler.  CoolerMiser will power down a cooler when it determines that no one is in the area around the machine. For a bank of coolers, CoolerMiser can utilize its unique embedded Sensor Repeater, which allows it to be controlled from the PIR sensor of any other Miser in the bank. This facilitates a quick and simple installation.

A cooler’s lights and cooling system typically draw an average of 460 Watts, costing approximately $322 per year to operate at 8¢ per kWh.  Powering down such a vending machine when not in use provides an average savings of $100 per year per machine.  Additionally, keeping a cooler powered off, unless the machine is actually needed, lengthens the expected lifetime of the equipment and reduces its exposure to damaging power line spikes.  Air conditioning load is also reduced, resulting in further savings.
