LaserMiser Product Description

The LaserMiser is a "smart" energy conservation device that saves electrical power by automatically switching laser printers "on" and "off" based on usage. It installs between a parallel-interface laser printer and either an IBM or compatible PC, or a PC based or stand-alone network print server. The LaserMiser can also simultaneously accept a serial data stream from any host.

LaserMiser provides significant energy savings by ensuring that the laser printer is only powered on when it is actually needed. When left on, but not printing, most laser printers still use considerable energy (as much as 240 watts, depending on the model of printer) to keep the fuser rollers heated. By powering the laser printer down until actually needed, LaserMiser II also lengthens the expected lifetime of the printer's fuser lamp, resulting in fewer printer failures and reduced maintenance costs. LaserMiser upgrades an existing laser printer to exceed the EPA's Energy Star laser printer low power requirements. LaserMiser's "smart" approach to power conservation maximizes energy savings while remaining "invisible" to computer users and system managers.

LaserMiser supports laser printers and IBM or compatible personal computers with an industry-standard Centronics parallel interface. Serial connections from the computer to the printer are also supported through an optional Serial Adapter. The LaserMiser is proudly Made in the USA.
