PTC Instruments 415B Offers

Features

Measuring range of 40 to 100 HRB (Equivalent Rockwell B Scale). Chromoly steel indenter has been polished to a spherical radius of 0.012" and ground to an included angle of 30°
Upper end (the shank) is the gripping area for insertion into a milling machine, drill press, or lathe
Lower end is the load cell that extends up into the body of the hardness tester and houses a centerless ground precision spring which preloads the hardened steel indenter
Carefully lower the drill press handle or quill until the indenter rests on the sample's surface, then slowly increase the force until the base of the hardness tester fully contacts the metal's surface
Movement of the indenter causes the gauge pointer to read the corresponding Rockwell scale
Direct reading analog dial is accurate to ±1.5 points
The total force required to move the indenter through its full travel of 0.025" (6.35 mm) is 85 lbs (38.56 kg)
Minimum sample thickness is 0.025" (6.35 mm) for most materials
Make several readings and average the results
Shipped with factory-set preload, calibrated and ready to use
